Heading out towards Bako National Park by speed boat.  ~ 20 minutes ride.  We had to hired the whole boat since there is only two of us else you can wait and split the $ with others.
Gunung Samtubong  ( extreme right) looms in the distance ...  turning right
Fishing nets  ready to be strung across the stilts
Sandstone and coastal forest
Arriving ....Bako National Park.  (Departure will be a different place as the afternoon low tide means you have to get onto the boat at the other side opposite the HQ restaurant bare footed before you jump into the boat.)

Roaming freely in HQ's area or on the beach  - bearded pig
Saw a bird over head  nibbling at the Casuarina stalk

Plenty of trekking trails to choose from.
Secluded beach at  Telok Paku trail  ( .8 Km / 1 hr)
No shading @Lintang Trail.   Umbrella is a must  for sheltering  from the hot sun!!!!
Ants plant

Flowers seen along the nutrient deficient trail of Lintang
Few flowers along this trail ...
Pitcher plant
Huge boulders and deep crevices on the descending path.

The smooth oval stone partially embedded in the sandstone. This area was once under the sea -  Lintang trail

Proboscis Monkey - around the Bako National Park HQ

Big belly fellow looking for young leaves of sea almond (Terminalia  catappa)  to feed on.

Notice the rather long hand

Back view of the pretty fur coat.
Notice the long narrow  foot adapted for staying on branches
Canon SX50HS provides a closer look than the 25mm lens on EOS 60D
Feeding on the sea almond leaves
Terminialia catappa tree

Incoming tide keep the shore submerged.

Sunset over the beach
Patterns on dry sand created by  ebbing shallow  currents
