Penang Revisited 2018

So this is Penang again

First thing first - it is hot up North here: 34 degrees C !!!  If you want to escape the heat .... go visit Penang Hill  883 meter the temperature is 4-5 degree cooler.

Stand around the stall  and consume the cold chendul - the antidote for the scorching sun

Prepare the correct change -  sound like OMO bus fare no change. Not sure who the celebrity there in the photos. Not Gadafi right?

Not sure left right make any differences... a marketing ploy?
After a visit to the Kek Lo Si naturally, you will be heading for Air Hitam food.

Laksa no doubt about that.. $9.60 Ringgit for x2 bowls

Curry Mee with pig blood since we miss the boat for the famous Fat Sisters Currey Mee in Air Hitam we tried another store. The pig blood is a little bit put-off for me.. In Singapore with si-ham and no pig blood, we called it Laksa.

At 92 Armenian road, we were told the egg tart is good with bird nests. Then there is coconut jelly with the bird nests too!
KeK Loh Si - Big bronze Kuang Yi.  On the way back we chosen to walk down the stairs going pass once-was-a-popular-shops-on-both-side allay. Now a handful of stores still stand with almost zero shoppers
Bedak Sejuk - the older generation ladies used this to apply to the face to cool off. Chempaka flowers provide the scents to the rice-based white pallet.  ( the shop assistance thought the flower is just a flower brand) .Not as common as the Mymmar ladies from a certain tree trunk

In between frying Char Koey Teow the boss prepare the needed prawns. Sparks flew and I thought it was a foto chance. Long queue ...

Lovely red arils of nutmeg. Yes, you have preserved sliced nutmeg. Nutmeg oil, drink etc.
Dragon head is seen from Chew's Clan Village

The funicular train tunnel.  Pretty steep at a gradient of 27+ degree. This reminded me of Wellington's tram up the Kilburn area. I recalled having to take the tram almost every day for a few months as my holiday work is in Win Gate lower Hutt Valley and we stayed at Victoria hostel.
The tall structure to the left centre is KOMTAR with all the buses at the basement. Was told you can do a 68 storey high look down glass panel walking as well as a short bridge to test your nerves

Habitat - Penang Hill. First, you pay for the funicular train ride up the hill then you pay for the Habitat's entrance. This is Tree Top View on steroids. You have a 360 panoramic view of the Curtis Crest
