Back to Kuching, Sarawak ( Land of Hornhill)
9 -13 May 2016
Sarawak River and Matang hill range in the distance.
Sun rise scene on our way back
Serene surroundings
P900 reveals why the tower 'lit up' at sunset time. At night there is a beacon to indicate its position.
As dusk approaches
Blue Sky and coconuts tress
Sunset in this large delta land
Star Trails using build-in mode in G5X facing South. Trails obscured the Matang Mountain. The battery ran out for a good cause too. Clouds drifting in and if exposure continue the scene will be washed out by the clouds.
On the first day - we stopped along a dark site and did a quick snap
|
Grand Margherita Hotel across the Sarawak River - we set up in the opposite bank and did the City Milky way shots.
|
|
Under the Coconuts tree sky - the tapestry from the Milky Way |
Milkyway rises and rotates to the right
|
A lone meteor flash through the sky. Milkyway - Matang's Serapi Peak ( 911 m) with a tower light. The night of 11 April we shoot through out the hours till 4am when the clouds came in. |
|
Red sprite, stars reflections on the calm unperturbed Sungei Sibu. Kuching city light pollution contrasted with the dark clouds in MW. Lightnings flickered in the distance
Tide is out. |

Shadows

|
Kitchen, big benches and most important abundant 3-pin plug for astro equipments |
|
Peaceful surrounding. |
|
Most of the night sky exposures were on tripods set not far from the coconut trees across the Sibu River overlooking the Serapti Mountain |
