July 19-20. Scaphium macropoda or Cheng Teng

This week I visited BTNR on both Sat and Sun. The weather is nice today and the notion of always in the shade and  need to chalk up my exercises hours were the motivation for the 2nd day visit.

Scaphium macropoda note the green leaves and the fruit attached to spoon like wing-seed

Near the HQ's Keruing Hut a short distance down the slope towards HQ I spotted them up in the canopy.
Dead centre above is the wilted leaf appearance

Zooming in x50 tell a different story. You can resolve the individual fruit here.
Just yesterday Saturday 19-Jul  I have seen 'gathering' of the fallen dried Cheng Teng ( Scaphium macropoda) not far from Keruing Path. Some one had gathered them and kept the fruits but returned the spoon-shaped leaves to the forest floor.

Fallen trees across the path...

From the cliff side accessible from back of Seraya Hut - Singapore Quarry.
A cup appeared over the hollow on the trunk... what is it ? Found high up in the tree trunk.
This screw pine bears three fruits!
10 green bottles hanging on the wall....   Petai fruits dangling and swaying to the breeze near HQ.
