Jan 11 2014 - Looking for birdie

Yishun Park ( updated  Feb 15 '14 Jan 18 '14 and again in the PM)  as i try to put all the birds seen from this park in this one single location.

Early am Feb 09 2012 - the dry spell had prompted leave/ shedding of many deciduous trees.

Autumn in just one tree?

Spot the green pigeon sunning quietly on a branch. Closer frontal views below.

It flew to another tree and i followed

Common KF waiting for a dive to catch some fish

Asian Koel ( Female) at KTP hospital garden. She is pretty alert and moved away and flew off seeing my approach under the branches

The bottle-tree sp near the Yishun Pond is flowering. Here is a spiral from rolled up sheath of one of the petals

Notice the rolled up leaf he is grasping. Way to tray a spider?

Found this fellow and follow him as he jump from branches to another tree. Then i witness his way of catching his prey...

White bellied sea eagle's nest.on the tallest tree in Yishun Park - the Albzia sp.

White Bellied Sea Eagle picked up something... the structure on the right is Safra vertical climb wall.

The diagnostic 'V' shaped lifted wings of White bellied sea eagle. This is a resident of Yishun Park.

Jan 18 '14 Saw this collared KF sitting on a branch and take a dive to pick up some worm before flying back on the branch

Bound to have several shots so why waste it .. posted instead.

I stood at the overhead bridge and trying to locate the sweet singing note ... finally nailed it down.

One chap dismounted from his bike and join me.  He pulled the cover off his birdie cage - a red-eye bulbul was in it. His comment was the Magpie up in the tree can be reared as singing bird.

Sunday Jan  26 - a sweet singing making everyone looking up from just outside KTP Ntuc fairprice  canteen. Soon the sound was traced to this robin.

Yishun pond - you are bound to encounter several species looking for fishes ...

Back-napped Oriole. 

Grooming himself - this Brown throat sun bird was spotted just 6-7 feet away from the overhead bridge.  While grooming the feather i saw he lashes out the tiny long tongue suitable for lapping up nectar.

Saw the brownish throat?

Saw this Olive backed male sun bird jumping from one flower to another attracted by the bright orange red flowers along the footpath of Yishun Pond near the hospital.

This iora  is hopping from branches to branches - a bashed up caterpillar is his catch

The female olive backed sunbird does not have a purple dot in the throat.

Spot the tree house there?

Jan 12 '13 Sunday  This is a female  olive-backed sunbird.

See the two black blobs in the distance branches.  They resolved into individual bird below images followed.

Note the branch added  in front of the entrance to the little house. This is to let the hornbill to have a proper place for footing. The structure is strapped to a mature pulai tree in Yishun Park.

Spot the bird in the image above. 50x zoom in image below revealed to be a bee eater.

A nest up the tree

Pink Necked Pigeon ( female green, male with pink neck). Despite the swaying branches in the afternoon breeze the pair stuck together for a long time. The male did break away for a brief moment when a strong gust of wind ruffled them apart.

Sun birds are fearless of people, she was just less than 5 feet away from a pedestrian footpath where i stood. 

Attracted by the Saraca  caulifflora flower's nectar you can find them hanging upside down.
